Activities at Gløtberget all year.

There are plenty of things to do for nature lovers here during all seasons of the year.
During the winter season there are ski tracks available from Gløtberget into the mountains and on the lake with different length and challenges, so there is something for all skiers. Ice fishing is also a very popular activity during the winter season both on Isteren (our lake) and the other lakes in the area. If you would like to fish in Norway you require a license and this can be purchased here at Gløtberget. A mere 14 kilometres away you have Sølenstua, which is a slalom slope. People who come to the area to ski can also find slopes in Engerdal Østfjell or venture into Sweden where Idre Fjäll is located with all its slopes. We are also close to one of Norway’s most popular slalom centres Trysil, which is only an hours drive away.

For those who are looking for excitement and action there is dog sled driving and if you prefer motor sports you can rent snowmobiles in Sweden and have a mountain adventure there. In Norway it is illegal to drive snowmobiles in the mountains, but as Sweden is only 15 minutes away we can enjoy this activity just across the border.

During the summer season there are also many opportunities for fishing in the area. As mentioned above, you can purchase a fishing license here at Gløtberget. The river Gløta passes by our resort and has plenty of Mountain Trout and Grayling. However many of our guests are looking for the great big Trout in the lake Isteren. To increase your chances of finding the great big one, we also have guides available to accompany you on fishing trips by boat.

We also have canoes and boats for rent here at Gløtberget and every summer we arrange a crash course in old fashioned fishing techniques and preparation of fish in the old fashioned way, followed by tasting samples. For those who seek adventures there are also plenty of opportunities during the summer. You can go out on the boat, paddling in a canoe, white water rafting and trekking on mountain bikes. We are happy to put you in touch with the various adventure holiday providers during your stay with us.

During the autumn picking berries is a popular local activity. We have cranberries, blueberries and the local cloudberry in the area. If you do not find any on your own treks through the area, we have local guides that can be assigned to take you to the right places. The hunting season in the fall is our busiest time, and our guests can join in and hunt for mountain and forest birds. We also apply every year for hunting licenses that can be used during your stay with us in the hunting season. These licenses are limited so book early if you require one of these.
